CONFERENCES
Presenting the research at the major national and international conferences is among the
goals for the research team. Such conferences will provide a venue to present the research
conducted throughout the year as well as providing opportunities for creating contacts for the
future collaborations. In addition, attending major conferences provide the group a
point of reference to check the quality and the relevance of the work conducted within the
research group at Bogazici University. Such conferences also provide an additional motivation to conduct
research in a timely manner, as such conferences provide incentive due to the excitement
about traveling to the locations the conferences take place. The plan is to attend major
conferences most relevant to the research field. In 2013, the research is presented at three
different international conferences, one in Turkey and two in the U.S. In 2014, the research
was presented at 6 different conferences: three in Turkey, two in Germany and one in the U.S.
In 2015, the research conducted at BUSTLab is presented at 7 different conferences: 3 in Turkey,
2 in the U.S., 1 in Japan and 1 in England. In 2016, the research conducted at BUSTLab is
presented at 3 different conferences: 1 in Turkey, 1 in the U.S., 1 in Italy. In 2017, the research conducted at BUSTLab is
presented at 4 different conferences: 1 in Turkey, 2 in the U.S. and 1 in Switzerland.
ICIS-2017
The 17th International Conference on Ion Sources (ICIS-2017) took place in Geneva, Switzerland
on October 15-20, 2017. Prof. Murat Celik attended the conference and presented a poster of his paper
at this conference:

DC in the U.S. on October 6-10, 2013. Even though 3 abstracts were sent and were accepted,
only one paper was submitted to this conference. Work by Ali Enes on the heater design and
testing of a low current hollow cathode was not finished in time to be submitted. Similarly,
work by Burak Yavuz was not completed in time due to various delays in the setup of
the vacuum chamber and other factors. Emre presented his work on ICP modeling with
trans- Former model of an RF ion thruster discharge chamber. Emre Turkoz attended the
conference. Emre made and oral presentation. The accompanying paper was published
online.

Work by Alp Ozgen on the 0-D modeling of hollow cathode plasma was not prepared in time
for the conference paper submission deadline of April 1, 2013. Two poster and an oral
presentations were made at this conference. The accompanying papers were
